Peter Irvine Comments On PSNI Officer Facing Prosecution Over Sean Graham Memorial Incident
A PSNI officer is set to face prosecution on charges of conspiring to pervert the course of justice following their involvement in events surrounding the Sean Graham bookmakers massacre memorial in 2021. The case centres on claims that a fabricated threat report was used to support a court application for witness anonymity.
Aontú representative for the Colin area, Peter Irvine, commented:
“This case raises pressing questions about the culture and accountability of the PSNI. Attempts to frame such incidents as isolated misconduct fail to address the broader structural problems that persist within the force. The legacy of the RUC remains evident, with a mere rebranding unable to erase longstanding issues that erode trust, especially among nationalist and Republican communities.
We in Aontú reaffirm our support for the survivors and families of those affected by the Sean Graham massacre as they continue their fight for truth and justice. A fair and transparent policing system is vital to building public confidence and we urge continued scrutiny to ensure that no institution is above accountability.”
